Welcome to Castle Mead's Studios

Studio One
Studio Two
Following the construction of Castle Mead Radio’s new extension, studio one was the first studio to be completed in August 1994. Alan Grimadell (president of NAHBO at the time) and Wendy Hickling of the Fosse Health Trust cut the ribbon of the new studio complex.

Today the studio consists of an Alice Air 2000 mixing desk with 8 channels; 3 mic channels and 5 line inputs. These support two Denon professional CD players with fader start, two Tascam mini disc decks and one cassette deck for recording purposes.

The computer system uses a version of OtsDj. This has proven to be by far the best playout system the station has employed and at a very affordable price when compared to similar software solutions. It can generate playlists, is totally drag and drop and can also be programmed to start automatically.

Studio two is mainly used for news and programmes requiring the use of the vast singles library. This consists of an Alice Series A desk with sixteen Channels, two Numark cd players, two mini decks and two professional turntables. A satellite feed also supplies IRN to both studios. The mixing desk was originally bought for the main studio in 1994 and is still going strong.
