My wife and I visited the Howgill Fells for the first time in 1992 and were taken by the beauty and peace of the area. We sited a caravan there, spending a lot of time walking the hills and enjoying the area. It is the only place I know where you can walk for a week and not see another person. I was inspired to write five pieces of music for stringed named after places we walked.
