The Journey

1. Their journey had been long and tiring, seering days and freezing nights
'Cross sands as far as eye could see they walked towards their destiny

2. They travelled far to pay their duties though it was their special time
They hoped to reach their destination, arrive before the child was born

3. Their journey done they looked for shelter, a place to rest and bide their time
They hoped to wait until the birth before they made the journey home

4. They searched for refuge (long and fruitless) to lay their heads, await the day
But spaces were already taken there was no room for them that night

5. And then as by divine involvement, they came by a stable door
Where they lay their weary bodies with the animals on the floor

6. And as the sun rose in the morning, baby's crying could be heard
Mid the baying of the cattle and the singing of the birds

7. Their journey there was long and tiring now they take the journey home
Body fresh and in high spirits, not knowing what the future holds

8. Their journey had been long and tiring, seering days and freezing nights
'Cross sands as far as eye could see they walked towards their destiny
