From Derry's quay we sailed away on the 23rd. of May,
We were boated by a pleasant crew bound for the Americaes
Fresh water there we did take on five thousand gallons or more
In case we ran short going to New York, far away from the Shamrock Shore
So fare thee well sweet Lisa dear and likewise to Derry town
And the fond farewell to my comrades all that dwell on that saintly ground
And if good fortune should favour me and I have some money in store
I'll go back and I'll wed the sweet lassie I left on Paddy's Green Shamrock Shore
We safely reached the other side in four and twenty days,
With kind relations to greet us there and send us on our way
We each of us drank a parting glass in case we should meet no more
And we drank to health of old Ireland and Paddy's Green Shamrock Shore
So fare thee well sweet Lisa dear and likewise to Derry town
And the fond farewell to my comrades all who dwell on that saintly ground
And if good fortune should favour me and I have some money in store
I'll go back and I'll wed the sweet lassie I left on Paddy's Green Shamrock Shore
